DIY “Fireworks Facial”
Got any big plans this weekend? If so, I want to share a special DIY recipe that’ll get your skin glowing in minutes and leave you with a beautifully bright, vibrant complexion everyone is sure to notice. In fact, its radiance-boosting properties are so strong, I call it the “Fireworks Facial”, which makes it perfect for this 4th of July weekend. Best of all, it’s unbelievably easy!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 2 ripe kiwis (diced and with the skin peeled off)
- 1 large banana
- 1 tsp organic honey
Yep, this DIY facial only calls for 3 ingredients — but I promise, the payoff is huge.
Here’s how to do it:
Step 1: Throw the 3 ingredients above into a blender and puree until they form a smooth paste. (Or mash them together by hand using a potato masher.)
Step 2: Smear the paste evenly all over your face, avoiding your eye areas, and leave it on for 25-30 minutes.
Step 3: Wash the paste off thoroughly using warm water and clean, fluffy washcloth, gently pat dry...
And that’s it!
Here’s why it works:
For starters, bananas are packed with a treasure trove of age-fighting nutrients, including:
- B vitamins — which help energize skin and add vibrance to your complexion.
- Vitamin A — a natural exfoliant and resurfacing agent that acts very similar to a milder form of retinol.
- Potassium — which helps deeply moisturize skin, so it’s left feeling ultra soft, plump, and supple.
Meanwhile, kiwi fruit contains almost 2X as much vitamin C per serving as an orange! And as you may know, vitamin C is both an amazing natural skin brightener and a key nutrient in the development of collagen. So applying it topically is a great way to help boost your skin’s radiance while fighting the look of wrinkles at the same time.
And lastly, honey acts as both a natural humectant to help seal in moisture AND as an added exfoliant — so you end up removing even more of those skin-dulling dead surface cells when you wash the mask off. That’s why the combination of these 3 ingredients can make your skin look more brightly lit almost immediately.
So give it a try before heading out to enjoy the 4th of July festivities this weekend — and let me know what you think!
