The Electric Human
A Presentation by Prof Mark I.M. Noble
Have you ever touched something and got a little shock? That is probably electricity elicited from your hand. There was a nice demonstration at one of the Christmas Royal Institution Lectures a few years ago when the demonstrator attached via a gel the wrist of a volunteer to a cable that was connected at the other end to the wrist of another volunteer. The first volunteer was instructed to indulge in rapid forceful bending and stretching of the hand which resulted in the second volunteer losing control of hand movement. The electricity garnered from the nerves of the first volunteer had been transferred to the nerves of the second volunteer. A demonstration that the human is electric.
